Summer is wrapping up and that means many things to many people. For all the sports fans out there however, that means that football season is back! Time to nestle in and enjoy Sunday Funday from the comfort of your couch cheering on your favourite team. Invite your friends over and wow them with these simple and delicious tailgating recipes.




Texas Caviar

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can corn niblets
  • 1 cup chopped red pepper
  • ½ cup green onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • ½ cup of vinegar
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil

In a small saucepan, add vinegar and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil until sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside and let cool. Drain and rinse chickpeas, black beans and corn niblets and add in a large serving bowl or tray. Mix in remaining chopped vegetables. Add vegetable oil to the vinegar and sugar mixture and stir. Pour into bean and vegetable mixture and mix well. Serve with nacho chips or choice of crackers!

Crock Pot Pulled Pork

  • 3lb pork shoulder
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp dried mustard
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 cups of barbecue sauce

Place pork shoulder in crock pot with apple juice. Combine dry seasoning and sprinkle over the pork shoulder. Cover and cook on low for approximately 8 hours or until the it is fall apart tender. Shred with two forks and add barbecue sauce. Serve on hamburger bun with coleslaw or in a taco!

Caesar Wings

  • 3-4lb of chicken wings
  • Vegetable oil
  • Celery salt
  • 3 cups of clamato juice
  • 2/3 cup of vodka
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup of tabasco
  • 1 tbsp horseradish
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place wings in a large bowl and drizzle with vegetable oil and celery salt. In another bowl, mix the remaining ingredients. Bake the chicken wings for approximately 45 minutes until cooked. In the meantime, add marinade to a pot and simmer to reduce. Brush the thickened marinade onto the cooked wings and broil for approximately 3 minutes.

Whiskey Meatballs


  • ¼ cup whiskey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup green onion
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Pour over frozen meatballs in a pot or crock pot (or use handmade cooked meatballs) Cook on low heat until meatballs and sauce are warm and serve!
